MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC Changes for the Better

Smart automation for a greener future

Solserv AB, a Swedish bio-solutions provider, partnered with Mitsubishi Electric to revolutionize food waste management in hospitality. At the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Solserv’s composting technology—powered by Mitsubishi Electric’s automation solutions—transforms organic waste into nutrient-rich compost in just 24 hours.

Challenge: Manage food waste more efficiently

Solserv AB, a Swedish company specializing in sustainable bio-solutions, faced a growing demand from the hospitality sector to manage food waste more efficiently. Traditional disposal methods were costly, not energy efficient, environmentally harmful, and contributed to methane emissions. Hotels like the Radisson Blu Scandinavia needed a solution that was fast, clean, and sustainable.

Solution: Automated composting system

Solserv partnered with Mitsubishi Electric to integrate advanced automation into their composting systems. Using Mitsubishi Electric’s reliable and energy-efficient PLC and HMI technologies, Solserv developed a smart composting unit that processes food waste on-site. The system transforms organic waste into nutrient-rich compost within 24 hours, operating year-round with minimal maintenance and odor.

Result: Huge step forward in waste management and environmental protection

  • Up to 100% reduction in food waste
  • Significant decrease in landfill contributions and methane emissions
  • Enhanced soil quality through locally produced compost
  • Improved operational efficiency for hospitality businesses
  • Scalable and replicable model for sustainable waste management
